Nanophotonic Transition Edge Sensors

Built on the expertise of our group both in the development of superconducting Transition Edge Sensors (TES) and in the theoretical study of plasmonic systems, we conduct in this line of research the design of novel TESs optimized for the absorption of radiation in the Ultra Violet an Infrared range, with potential application in astronomy and the emerging quantum technologies. For instance, we have designed devices optimized for the telecom (1550nm) with photon counting capabilities and with and without sensitivity to polarization.

For that, we used artificial intelligence-based tools to speed up the optimization process.
